STROLINFLOWS

Strolinflows is a Portuguese duo composed by Wake Up Sleep and LostSoul which was formed in 2018 during the execution and production process of the soundtrack for Hip To Da Hop Documentary. The two musicians/producers got together and transformed what seemed to be a new aesthetic for the ears.

Their approach being so diversified and versatile, capable of bringing up musical aspects that are actually interesting to understand deeply when talking about making beats or producing tracks. Both artists were already influenced by different and yet similar references, there was an immediate harmony and connectivity between them, it was a natural and almost an effortless exchange of knowledge where it was bounced back and forth in Strolinflows world. Their music has become a repercussion from an acute critical, practical and theoretical sense of how anything is supposed to be, that kind of ripped off a lot of dogmas and pre conceived ideas as they were now looking for their own sound.

Strolinflows released ‘Substratos de Abstracção’ in the end of 2019, their first official album as a duo. This album is the perfect portrait for what their sound is becoming as it goes through metamorphosis states, where gritty textures fulfil a sensation of depth, eloquent soundscapes working around different moods, irregular rhythmic behavior where the drum lines are usually ‘off the grid’ achieving a native progression while entering the looping realm, this is how their minds sound when colliding into the same time and space. Lost Soul fills the strings section by applying his guitar skills, carring on a big influence of Bossa Nova and Jazz, when mixed up with Wake Up Sleep’s Neo Soul chords and melodies on the keys.

Strolinflows represents the passion for creating multiple languages in unison, the more you grow with it, the more you struggle, but the easier becomes to connect with that same form of speech, breaking creative barriers as a need for a brighter and clearer future turned out to be an answer to the essence which both artists keep striving for.
