RICHARD BEATS

Ricardo Soares, Putto Beats or Richard Beats as he presents himself in the artistic world, lives in Vila Nova de Santo André, Setúbal, Hip Hop producer/beatmaker also an idea constructer, with previous experiences through the microphone as an Mc.

Starts producing at Madtracker in mid 2004/2005, moving later to Reason that still uses today. Between rhythms and beats, influenced by the closest friends, samples from the most varied sources, references such as jazz, soul, rhythm'n’blues, funk, bossa nova and other unusual African music genres.

Drums loops created from scratch using an Akai MPD or a PianoMidi keyboard transmitting a very own and sentimental sound from the producer. His inspiration on each production is felt in every single song he samples, where samples have inspiration for different origins and construction methods. While having no musical training, the artist finds music in his blood through African percussion, more specifically in Djembé & Dunduns and than perfects his techniques in African percussion workshops in Guinea Conakry with musicians from Portugal.

In 2011 and 2012 he participated in URBAN BEAT BATTLE (Lisbon and Porto), a Hip Hop beat/instrumental battle contest in Portugal with several talents that are heard today. He has made and still on making collaborations with various artists, such as: Praso (ALCOOL CLUB), Sociedade Anónima (Dj/Producer/Mc), Mike El Nite, Vilão, Recalot, Nofake, Johny Gumble, Subtil, ORTEUM, Salacian Máfia, among other artists abroad from Portugal.

Recently (2019/2020) released an album, Blues Bros, with a group of two Mcs (R.O.T. aka Revenge Of the Truence) from Harlem, NYC.

Being already working on a second album of originals. Soon (2020) there will be news from the artist with participations from new Mc’s from Portugal and USA not yet announced.

Richard Beats makes music because he wants to and when he can, as a way of escaping the daily routine.
